(NASDAQ: ERTS) today revealed details about MicroBot, a unique gameplay experience taking players inside the human body. The new arcade-style shooter, which will be available Winter 2011 on Xbox Live(R) Arcade and PlayStation(R) Network, challenges gamers to control a microscopic ship–a MicroBot–on a mission to destroy a biotechnological infestation.

MicroHexon Research has invented a transformative medical technology: autonomous nanotech machines that are no larger than a blood cell. When injected into the body they target and eliminate diseases at the cellular level. However, something has gone dangerously awry. The nanomachines have bonded to the diseased cells and are now multiplying inside the body at an exponential rate. Piloting a new prototype MicroBot, players must seek and destroy the infection before it consumes the human host from the inside.

In MicroBot, players battle malicious enemies as they travel through veins, bones, lungs and brain. The rhythms and fluids of the human body create a dynamic environment that affects movement and gameplay, providing both combat advantages and additional hazards to overcome. Just as each human body is unique, MicroBot dynamically creates new levels to ensure that the challenge is different every time gamers play.

Sony Computer Entertainment America, LLC (SCEA) today announced that streaming from Netflix will be available on the PlayStation®3 (PS3™) system as a native application in the United States on October 18, 2010. Instantly watching movies and TV episodes streamed from Netflix on the PS3 system previously required an instant streaming disc, and now PS3 system owners will have the added convenience of enjoying videos streamed from Netflix directly from the XMB™ (XrossMediaBar) menu. Additionally, the PS3 system will be the first consumer electronics device to support 5.1-channel surround sound on movies and TV shows streamed from Netflix, as announced by Netflix and Dolby Laboratories, Inc. today.

Several new enhancements are coming to the Netflix experience on the PS3 system that will make watching your favorite movies and TV shows better than ever. PS3 system owners with Netflix memberships will receive all of the new features at no additional cost to their Netflix monthly subscription.

  • Movies and TV shows from Netflix will be accessible from PS3’s XMB menu under a new Netflix icon under the Video category. To access Netflix, PS3 owners will need to sign-in with their PlayStation®Network account.
  • Support for Dolby Digital Plus 5.1-channel surround sound will enable users to experience premium-quality audio.
  • A new user interface, including the recently added search functionality, will deliver a much richer and faster browsing experience, making it easier to find the specific titles you’re looking for or to discover new content.
  • Some movies and TV shows will be viewable in 1080i resolution, offering an enhanced visual experience as more consumers adopt HDTVs.
  • The amount of time to start playback will be improved.
  • An increasing number of movies and TV shows will be viewable with subtitles or alternate audio tracks.

Four Protégés Travel the World to Train MMA

October 11, 2010 – EA SPORTS MMA and Sherdog.com, a property of CraveOnline, have partnered together for a unique fighting initiative called Sherdog MMA Fighter Exchange.  The program mirrors EA SPORTS MMA’s career mode where young fighters travel the globe to learn various martial arts disciplines.  This initiative features four young, up and coming MMA fighters and pairs them with established STRIKEFORCE fighters Luke Rockhold, Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Gegard Mousasi and Renaldo “Jacare” Souza.  These eight fighters will each go to different countries around the world to train and expand their MMA skill set by participating in training sessions in Brazil, Japan and the United States.

Sherdog.com will be providing a behind the scenes look throughout the fight camps with blog and video coverage of each fighter.  After completing their respective training camps, the protégés return to prepare for their debut at the December 4th STRIKEFORCE promotion where their undercard fights will be streamed live by Sherdog.com.
