Capcom: Monster Hunter Tri [Wii] – Event, Gigantic Monster & Arena Quests

From/De: Capcom

MONSTER HUNTERTM TRI DELIVERS NEW QUESTS AND FRESH HUNTS WELL BEYOND GAME RELEASE

Event and Arena Quests Offered Online Reward Successful Hunters With Rare Items and Upgrades

SAN MATEO, Calif — April 9, 2010 — Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced support for Monster Hunter™ Tri with unique event and arena quests on Wii™. Accessible for limited time periods, the online quests extend the player experience by offering monsters and rewards only available while the quests are open. Successful completion of the online quests allow players to upgrade their weapons and armor with rare items and take them into the standard single player or multiplayer quests. Based on a cyclical schedule, event quests will be available multiple times offering a number of opportunities for players to experience them. A schedule of event quests will be updated on Capcom’s community site, Capcom Unity at www.capcom-unity.com, on the first Friday of every month.

Event Quests
Up to four players can band together online to complete the Event Quests. The Event Quests offer a variety of challenges on an ongoing basis, cycling monsters of varying difficulty. Aspiring hunters must meet the required hunter rank in order to participate in these quests or work to level up their characters by hunting monsters in either the single player mode or standard online multiplayer mode and attempt to participate when the desired post launch quest appears again. Specialized weapons, including three designed by Capcom’s community members, can only be obtained by participating in Event Quests.

Gigantic Monster Quests
Gigantic Monster Quests, a distinctive event quest, are only available for one day at a time. Pitting players up against the rare and challenging Jhen Mohran, gigantic monster quests find players on a ship as they battle the massive beast, firing cannons to draw the monster close before attacking at closer range with their customized weapons.

Arena Quests

Arena Quests pit two players against solitary monsters in varied coliseums. Hunters work together to take down the specific massive beasts in either a traditional Monster Hunter style or in a time attack style, offering a higher chance of acquiring value rewards based on how quickly the monster is defeated.

Monster Hunter fans in New York will receive an early look at special event quest content during the Monster Hunter Tri launch event at the Nintendo® World store on April 17, 2010. Celebrating the launch of Monster Hunter Tri, consumers visiting the store will have the opportunity to get their first taste of online and co-op hunting before the game release on April 20th, as well as participate in a two player battle for special Monster Hunter Tri prizes, Monster Hunter™ and video game fans will also have the unique opportunity to meet the producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Kaname Fujioka.

Making its North American debut on Wii on April 20, 2010, Monster Hunter Tri is one of the most strikingly beautiful titles developed for Wii. Banding together up to four players online, Monster Hunter Tri finds the hunter in a living, breathing ecosystem hunting fantastic beasts for the economic prosperity of a nearby village. A first for the series, hunters can take their quests underwater with monsters that roam both land and sea. Offering the player varied options to suit their style of play, players can choose between the Classic Controller Pro™, Wii Remote™ and Nunchuk™, or Classic Controller™ to slay the majestic beasts that inhabit the world, and communicate via text-based chat or voice chat utilizing Nintendo’s proprietary microphone accessory, WiiSpeak™.

LOL: Chávez as Marcus Phoenix ?!

English | Español

We know Chavez hates videogames, maybe because even in the virtual world he would like to be recognized as the most powerful president in the Universe, but no one will do a game of him as the main character, unless there is an “evil” game designer out there, but I would prefer a game to make fun of him (any Flash games?). I think he makes an appearance on Tropico 3, doesn’t him? Of course, one of his most difficult tasks is he can’t stop the real violence that happens daily in his country, due mainly to acts of survival of the poor people in Venezuela who cannot afford food and/or shelter, much less a videogame, but blames gaming anyway, especially I suppose, games like Gears of War (if he knows what that game is about, perhaps he will soon). However, his most recent actions cannot be ignored.

The upcoming acquisition of weapons, tanks and helicopters from Russia for US$5 billion makes people think what his plans would be. In political terms, Perú and Colombia (and maybe a few others) are some of the countries that don’t get along in South America with “Mr. I-want-to-be-a-dictator-like-Castro” Chávez. I’m sure there are people in their respective South American countries that do not agree with that their presidents are doing or have been doing with Chavez. Both mentioned countries don’t want to be part of the Chavez’ dictatorship family. Yet, even in one of the most-widespread newspapers in Peru, a bit of political satire doesn’t hurt. Perhaps it’s a first for a newspaper to place an edited picture of the body of a gaming character with the face of Chavez. Yes, it’s Marcus Phoenix’s body (Epic Games’ Gears of War) with the face of the Venezuelan president in the cover of Perú21.

What the cover says: Headline: Chavez Gears Up. Sub-headline: Will purchase $5 billion US from Russia in military equipment. Text: Will acquire submarines, tanks and helicopters. The United States fears weapons may end up in other countries of the region.

But besides the comic relief, what are Chavez’ real plans? What will he do with those weapons? Who is he going to share the weapons with? Will he change his mind about games after he finds out about this picture?

Subs-título: Comprará a Rusia US$5 mil millones en equipos militares.

Apple: iPhone OS 4

From/De: Apple

Apple Previews iPhone OS 4

Includes Multitasking, Folders, iBooks, Unified Inbox & More

CUPERTINO, California—April 8, 2010—Apple® today previewed its iPhone® OS 4 software and released a beta version of the software to iPhone Developer Program members. The iPhone OS 4 beta release includes an updated Software Development Kit (SDK) with over 1,500 new Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and over 100 new features that will be available to iPhone and iPod touch® users this summer. New features include Multitasking for third party apps; Folders to better organize and access apps; improved Mail with a unified inbox, fast inbox switching and threaded messages; enhanced Enterprise support with even better data protection, mobile device management, wireless app distribution and more; Apple’s new iAd mobile advertising platform; and iBooks, the delightful new ebook reader and online bookstore recently debuted on the iPad™.

“iPhone OS 4 is the fourth major release of the world’s most advanced mobile operating system,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We’re delivering over 100 new features, including multitasking, folders, a unified inbox, deeper Enterprise support, and an iPhone version of our iBooks reader and online iBookstore.”

iPhone OS 4’s new multitasking offers users a new way to quickly move between apps, and provides developers seven new multitasking services to easily add multitasking features to their apps. These services include background audio, so apps like Pandora can play music in the background, and VoIP, so VoIP apps can receive a VoIP call even when the iPhone is asleep or the user is running other apps. iPhone OS 4 provides multitasking to third party apps while preserving battery life and foreground app performance, which has until now proved elusive on mobile devices.

Folders help users better organize and quickly access their apps. Simply drag one app icon onto another, and a new folder is automatically created. The folder is automatically given a name based on the App Store category of that app, such as “Games,” which the user can easily rename. Using folders, users can now organize and access over 2,000 apps on their iPhone. Users can also create and manage iPhone folders on their Mac® or PC using iTunes® 9.2.

iPhone OS 4 delivers the best mail experience on a mobile phone with its new Unified Inbox, allowing users to see messages from all their email accounts displayed together in a single inbox. With just a few taps, users can quickly switch between inboxes to see messages from any single account. In addition, users can now thread their messages by conversation, making it easier to stay on top of email discussions, as well as open email attachments with compatible apps from the App Store.

iAd, Apple’s new mobile advertising platform, combines the emotion of TV ads with the interactivity of web ads. Today, when users click on mobile ads they are almost always taken out of their app to a web browser, which loads the advertiser’s webpage. Users must then navigate back to their app, and it is often difficult or impossible to return to exactly where they left. iAd solves this problem by displaying full-screen video and interactive ad content without ever leaving the app, and letting users return to their app anytime they choose. iPhone OS 4 lets developers easily embed iAd opportunities within their apps, and the ads are dynamically and wirelessly delivered to the device. Apple will sell and serve the ads, and developers will receive an industry-standard 60 percent of iAd revenue.

The iPhone OS 4 beta release includes a developer preview of Game Center, which contains a set of APIs that allows developers to create apps with the ability to invite friends to play a game, start a multiplayer game through matchmaking and track achievements and compare high scores on a leader board. Apps created with GameKit APIs will work with Game Center, Apple’s new social gaming network available to iPhone and iPod touch users later this year.

New enterprise features in iPhone OS 4 include improvements in security, scalability and compatibility. The new Mobile Device Management service can be integrated with third party servers to wirelessly configure, query and even wipe or lock managed iPhones, and iPhone OS 4 enables enterprises to securely host and wirelessly distribute their own in-house developed apps to employees. The new Data Protection feature uses a user’s passcode as an encryption key to protect mail messages and attachments stored on the iPhone. iPhone OS 4 now provides the option to set a longer, more complex passcode, making iPhone and its data even more secure. iPhone OS 4 allows IT managers to set up multiple Exchange ActiveSync accounts, is compatible with Exchange Server 2010 and includes support for forthcoming SSL VPN applications from Juniper Networks and Cisco.

Today, more than four billion apps have been downloaded from the revolutionary App Store and more than 185,000 apps are available to consumers in 90 countries. Over 85 million iPhone and iPod touch users around the world can choose from an incredible range of apps in 20 categories, including games, business, news, sports, health, reference and travel.

Availability
The iPhone OS 4 beta software and SDK are available immediately for iPhone Developer Program members at developer.apple.com. iPhone OS 4 will be available as a software update to iPhone and iPod touch users this summer.* A version of iPhone OS 4 will be coming to iPad this Fall.

*Some features may not be available on all products. For example, Multitasking requires iPhone 3GS or third generation iPod touch (late 2009 models with 32GB or 64GB).
