US Library of Congress: All ur (public) tweet are belong to us, too. Kind of. | Todas sus tuít (pública) son nos pertenecen también. Más o menos.

English | Español

Do you use microblogging service Twitter? Most likely you do. Are all of you fans of it? Most probably. Do you keep an accurate account of how many messages do you post? I guess not. Do you protect your messages? It depends on you, but most people don’t mind about having their account public. However, an announcement from the biggest library in the world may make you change your mind about your Twitter habits.

Earlier today, the US Library of Congress posted on its site the following annoucement: all your Twitter public messages will be stored on its humongous database of 167 terabytes (and it keeps growing).

Currently, most people in cyberspace are getting used to receive the latest news about Hollywood celebrities, sports stars and sites of personal interests. Users post what’s on their mind to share their messages with collegues, friends, and relatives, while others promote their businesses. According to the post on the Twitter blog, “only after a six-month delay can the Tweets will be used for internal library use, for non-commercial research, public display by the library itself, and preservation.” Is this “preservation and research” of  Twitter messages going to make you change your mind about your tweets? It seems like we the users of Tweeter have some time to get rid of messages we don’t want to be digitally stored forever. Is that an option though? Many of your messages can already be at Google and Bing, too. Google has recently launched its Replay service which “ lets you relive a real time search from specific moments in time.”

¿Utilizan el servicio de microblogging Twitter? Más probable que sí lo hagan. ¿Son todos ustedes fanáticos de aquel? Seguramente.

2K Games: XCOM [PC/X360]

From/De: 2K Games

2K Games Announces XCOM® – Suspense and Mystery-Filled First-Person Shooter from Creators of BioShock® 2
Award-winning developers set their sights on re-imagining the suspense, tension and fear of one of gaming’s most beloved franchises only on Xbox 360 and Windows PC

New York, NY – April 14, 2010 – 2K Games announced today that XCOM®, the re-imagining of one of gaming’s most storied and beloved franchises, is currently in development at 2K Marin, the studio behind the multi-million unit selling BioShock® 2. Currently in development exclusively for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC, XCOM combines the strategic core of the groundbreaking franchise with a suspense-filled narrative and distills it into a tense and unique first-person shooter experience.

“With BioShock 2, the team at 2K Marin proved themselves as masters of first-person, suspenseful storytelling, and with XCOM they will re-imagine and expand the rich lore of this revered franchise,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “Players will explore the world of XCOM from an immersive new perspective and experience firsthand the fear and tension of this gripping narrative ride.”

XCOM is the re-imagining of the classic tale of humanity’s struggle against an unknown enemy that puts players directly into the shoes of an FBI agent tasked with identifying and eliminating the growing threat. True to the roots of the franchise, players will be placed in charge of overcoming high-stake odds through risky strategic gambits coupled with heart-stopping combat experiences that pit human ingenuity – and frailty – against a foe beyond comprehension. By setting the game in a first-person perspective, players will be able to feel the tension and fear that comes with combating a faceless enemy that is violently probing and plotting its way into our world.

XCOM is not yet rated by the ESRB. For more information on XCOM please visit www.XCOM.com.

SCEA & Coachella @ Empire Polo Fields [2010.04.16-18]

Sony Computer Entertainment America has teamed up with Coachella for the eighth consecutive year to provide festival goers with exciting PlayStation experiences taking place April 16-18 at Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California.  As added incentive for fans of all-things-tech, Sony Electronics will be joining SCEA to offer fans the chance to capture their Coachella memories with the new Sony® bloggie™ MP4 camera in Sony’s “Play. Create. Share.” Workshop.  Attendees will also have the chance to score VIP upgrades, bloggie cameras and a PS3.

Consumers will have the opportunity to live the Sony experience in two main areas:

PlayStation Headquarters– will allow fans to step into the world of Kevin Butler while providing the unique opportunity to get their hands on unreleased titles such as ModNation™ Racers and the highly anticipated Gran Turismo® 5 as well as some of this year’s hottest titles including God of War® III and MLB® 10 The Show.

Play. Create. Share. Workshop – will inspire creativity and put the fans in control.  In addition to a ModNation Racers gaming pod and SingStar® with a playlist featuring Coachella artists, attendees will have the chance to capture all their Coachella memories with the Sony bloggie MP4 camera. Within the workshop, guests can visit the Sony bloggie “Rental Station” to check-out a camera for the day.  As the fun happens at Coachella, the pocket-sized bloggie camera will allow fans to capture, upload and share all the action in high definition.  The camera records MPEG4 video and 5-megapixel still images, so it’s easy to upload content to the Web with its built-in USB.  And, Sony’s making it even easier by including an “Upload & Editing” station within the workshop where guests can instantly share their footage with the world.  An “Everyday Moments” station will also be available to guests, featuring a large Sony TV display with impressive Coachella backdrops – for attendees to create “Wish you were here!” videos.  Several Coachella artists will also be dropping by the workshop, providing even more exciting moments for attendees to capture on the bloggie cameras.  Now, instead of telling their friends and family about the festival, they can show them.

Additionally, while at the Sony Play. Create. Share. Workshop, consumers will have the chance to enter-to-win a custom solar-powered golf cart designed by Jeremiah Garcia and inspired by Coachella artist Passion Pit and the highly anticipated PlayStation®3 (PS3™) exclusive ModNation Racers. The one-of-a-kind cart comes complete with a PS3 and a TV built in, making it the ultimate gaming cart!  Those fans who may not be attending Coachella but still want their chance to win the cart can go to: http://us.playstation.com/psn/events/keystoyourkartsweeps.html starting April 16th to enter to win.
