Winter Park, FL (PRWEB) June 30, 2009 — Full Sail University (fullsail.edu (http://www.fullsail.edu)), an award-winning entertainment media institution located near Orlando, FL, is proud to recognize Digital Arts & Design (http://www.fullsail.edu/digital-arts/overview.html) student, Gabriel Haze, for creating a music video for Elizabeth June’s Freedom, which has been chosen as the Film of the Week by mtvU’s Best Film On Campus (bestfilmoncampus.com (http://www.bestfilmoncampus.com)).

After being approached by June to create a music video for her song, Freedom, Haze completed the project in early 2009 and immediately submitted it to mtvU’s Best Film on Campus (BFOC), which welcomes student filmmakers to upload their work on the web in a student filmmaker showcase format. The Pirate Bay: Site has a new owner | El sitio tiene un nuevo dueño

English | Español

One of the most popular Internet sites worldwide now has another owner. The Pirate Bay has been and still is one of the most popular websites. It allows the distribution of all kinds of digital files. However, entertainment companies have not been satisifed at all with TPB for several years. The Pirate Bay has allowed users to download such material for free without having received legal permission from those companies, a major factor that has forced them to be in some courts in different countries.

The company Global Gaming Factory X AB announced today it acquired the controversial site The Pirate Bay. Currently, over 25 million users should be thinking about the future of the famous site. Before the sale of the site, TPB was an independent company. GGF buys TPB for just US$7.8 million.

Although the main purpose of TPB has been to enable users to share all kinds of files, the use of the torrent tracker technology has contributed in the downloading of materials from other companies. It is worth saying that TPB have not stored the downloaded files on their servers, but its service has served as a link to those distributed files among users from their own computers.

The new owner states that “TPB requires a new business model, which satisfies the requirements and needs of all parties, content providers, broadband operators, end users, and the judiciary. Content creators and providers need to control their content and get paid for it. File sharers’ need faster downloads and better quality.” After the many financial losses, it seems it was time already to sell TPB.

It seems to me like the end has arrived for another file-sharing service. Now, the one TPB, as has been known for many years, will accompany the “old Napster” and the defunct Kaaza as part of the history of P2P services.

GGF compra TPB  por solo US$7,8 millones.

A PSP/mobile hybrid device in the works | Un dispositivo híbrido PSP/móvil en producción

English | Español

Apple’s entry into the world of mobile devices has shaken the portable gaming industry. Because of their many capabilities, some mobile phones come with their own Apple-inspired software stores. Most current games are easy-to-play, especially for the casual gaming crowd. Sony has seen the impact of the iPhone. Many companies, like EA and Konami, already see it as another gaming platform.  Now, it’s Sony’s turn to get into the casual, mobile world.

Nintendo has already added some unique and similar features to its DSi to appeal to casual gamers. Sony’s PSP Go will be coming in October (@ US$250), but will also be developing a PSP/mobile hybrid device in order to counteract the iPhone’s success, according to Reuters. Will Sony be able to succeed? Whatever name the device receives, it will have to bring far more features than the iPhone to be able to stand a chance.

English | Español

It seems hard to believe but it happened.

While there are lots of fans of fighting games who are male, the same cannot be said about females. So, why did Harvey Nichols, a well-known department store in London, publish ads related to fighting games?  It doesn’t seem to make sense at first, but since lots of people are into videogames nowadays (including women), placing 3D characters into whatever in order to attract wider audiences is acceptable. What an innovative way to sell the latest designer clothes at 50% off! I wonder what the outcome of the SaleFighter campaign would be.
