EA & CNN & Ashton Kutcher & Twitter?!?!?! – Part 4

Things are starting to change and perhaps for a great cause. Ted Turner’s daughter, Laura, spoke recently on a radio show about the great things her father has done for the United Nations in order to save people’s lives in the continent of Africa. She also talked about a challenge, one that Ashton may not refuse. If Ashton donates 10,000 mosquito bed nets to Nothing But Nets [Wikipedia: Nothing But Nets is a charitable organization, supported by the United Nations Foundation, which aims to prevent African children from dying of malaria by purchasing, distributing and teaching the proper use of mosquito bed nets], then she’ll ask her dad to support Ashton into getting over a million followers on his Twitter page. When a “battle” (not due to a disagreement but to a competition) turns into something with a greater purpose, we can see there are more than two people who really care about the world at large. This past Tuesday night, Ashton mentioned he would donate the mosquito bed nets if he beats CNN on Twitter. @cnnbrk has not updated its Twitter page for some hours already. La hija de Ted Turner, Laura, habló recientemente en un show radial acerca de las grandes cosas que su padre ha hecho para las Naciones Unidas para salvar las vidas de la gente en el continente de Africa. Ella también habló de un desafio, uno al que Ashton quizas no se niege. It seems someone at EA really wants CNN to lose in this “friendly battle.” Not only has EA offered a copy of every game the game company makes this year, they’ve also confirmed the lucky follower will make an apperance on The Sims 3. Ashton is now at 909,016 while CNN still maintains its lead with 944,551 (as of 5:12pm EST).

Parece que alguien en EA de veras quiere que CNN pierda en esta “batalla amistosa”. No solamente EA ha ofrecido una copia de cada juego que la compañía de juegos haga este año, también han confirmado que el afortunado seguidor aparecerá en The Sims 3. Ashton ahora tiene 909,016 mientras que CNN mantiene su delantera con 944,551 (a las 5:12pm EST).

Capcom: Bionic Commando – Demo @ Xbox Live

If you have a 360 and want to play Bionic Commando, you’ll be in luck because you’ll get to play the demo first. As a fan of the original version and its remake, I wish I could have an advanced copy of the game, but at least the demo will just do… whenever it becomes available. There was no mention of a PS3 demo yet [ ] .

Si tienen un 360 y quieren jugar Bionic Commando, tendrán suerte porque jugarán la “demo” primero. Como un aficionado de la versión original y de su nueva versión, quisiera poder conseguir una copia avanzada del juego, pero por lo menos, la “demo” será suficiente… cuando sea que esté disponible. Capcom is excited to announce that the demo for Bionic Commando will launch on Xbox Live in the coming weeks! Focusing on Bionic Commando’s exhilarating online multiplayer mode, the demo will feature “Vertigo,” one of the game’s 16 multiplayer maps where 8 players will go head to head in an all out Deathmatch. But this is no ordinary Deathmatch. Swing through the air while showering your opponents with hot lead, use the grapple to zip to safety before a grenade explodes at your feet and laugh as enemies plummet from the tops of skyscrapers following a well aimed zip-kick to the chest!

The full version of Bionic Commando will feature Solo & Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag. But make no mistake, multiplayer is just one part of the new Bionic Commando experience.

In single player mode, Bionic Commando sees the return of the bionically-enhanced Nathan “R.A.D.” Spencer. Time has not been kind to Spencer: Five years after his heroic defeat of the Imperials, he has been betrayed by the government he swore to serve, imprisoned for crimes he didn’t commit, and sentenced to death. Bionic Commando transposes the much loved swing-and-shoot gameplay of the 8-bit original onto a stunning 3D environment of towering buildings, suspended roadways and monorails, deep canyons and sheer rock faces, which are traversed using swinging, scaling, climbing and wall-walking techniques.

The retail version of Bionic Commando will ship for Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3 on Tuesday May 19th! Until then, check out the online multiplayer demo available to download later this month.

Somehow Guitar Hero is involved in this “Hollywood actor vs. news network” Twitter challenge. If Ashton wins, the fortunate one million follower will get a Guitar Hero (no specifics as to which one). Meanwhile, one of CNN’s Twitter partners (CNNi) is asking for help for @cnnbrk. As of 12:23pm EST, Ashton’s Twiiter account has not reached its follower number 900,00 yet (currently at 891,582). CNN Breaking News is currently at 938,353. Whoever you choose, vote now.

De alguna manera Guitar Hero esta envuelto en este desafio Twitter de “Actor de Hollywood vs. red de noticias”. Some things are here to stay. Google is one excellent example. Virtually everyone uses the search engine so much so that people use the word “google” as a verb to refer to searching online. Now there is a another online service that is following its steps: Twitter. Lots of people are using Twitter to leave short messages in a page where your family and friends can see them. No need to use services like Yahoo Messenger or Windows Live Messenger to find out what our folks are doing. I love the service (“I twit”), and so does CNN and EA and Ashton Kutcher. Lots of news fans are following CNN on Twitter.com. Lots of movie and TV fans are also following Ashton Kutcher, too. Both CNN and Kutcher are getting close to the 1,000,000-follower mark. To make things interesting, Kutcher challenges CNN. Who will get to the finish line first? Though he doubts he will win, anything can happen.

Now you may be thinking: How can EA get involved in the CNN vs. Kutcher’s Twitter Battle? If you check out EA on Twitter.com you’ll see the following message: “We will put Ashton Kutcher’s 1,000,000 follower in a future EA game (assuming Ashton beats CNN)”.

Algunas cosas están aquí para quedarse. Google es un excelente ejemplo. Casi todos usan el motor de búqueda tantísimo que la palabra “google” (en inglés) se usa como un verbo para referiese a buscar en línea. Ahora hay otro servicio por Internet que está siguiendo sus pasos: Twitter. Mucha gente está usando Twitter para dejar mensajes cortos en una página donde su familia y amigos puedan verlos. No se necesita usar servicios como Yahoo Messenger o Windows Live Messenger para saber lo que nuestra gente hace. Me encanta el servicio (“yo tuiteo”), y lo mismo a CNN y EA y Ashton Kutcher. Muchos fanáticos de las noticias siguen a CNN en Twitter.com. Varios de los fanáticos de la TV y películas están también siguiendo a Ashton Kutcher. Los dos, CNN y Kutcher, están acercándose al millón de seguidores. Para hacer las cosas más interesantes, Kutcher desafia a CNN. ¿Quién llegará primero a la meta? Aunque duda que ganará, cualquier cosa puede suceder.
